We’re big fans of Mexico, and have spent long stints in both Los Cabos and the Yucatán. This year we decided to try out a new area. We’d heard good things about a little surf town about an hour outside of Puerto Vallarta and headed there for our first month of travel this summer.
Sayulita is situated on a picturesque cove with a beautiful long, sandy beach stretching down the coast. The break is well-protected on the south end and it’s become very popular for beginner surf lessons.
The downtown area is a mix of pedestrian-only walkways and one-way streets. No need to rent a car — parking can be difficult and, while very hot, Sayulita is very walkable!
You really can’t go wrong with food options in Sayulita. For authentic street tacos, don’t miss Tacos el Ivan, or stop by Barracuda for fresh seafood tostadas or ceviché.
And as always, never miss a sunset. 😉
